Maintenance Technician

Ability Beyond Barriers     Conway, SC          $23.50 per hour | Full-Time

Ability Beyond Barriers is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to help maintain and improve the homes, facilities, and program sites that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and head and spinal cord injuries.

Our Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring that our facilities remain safe, functional, accessible, and welcoming for the people we serve, our employees, and our community partners.

What You'll Do

• Perform general building maintenance and repairs
• Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner
• Conduct carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, plumbing, and basic electrical repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance and facility inspections
• Assist with facility renovations and improvement projects
• Maintain grounds, walkways, parking areas, and exterior building features
• Coordinate with outside contractors as needed
• Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance inventory
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes
• Document completed work and communicate repair needs effectively

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least two (2) years of experience in building maintenance, construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, or a related trade
• Valid South Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with residential and commercial facility maintenance
• Experience in multiple skilled trades
• Knowledge of building code requirements and preventive maintenance practices
